Local 528’s mission
Our mission is to empower our members to improve their lives far beyond the workplace. One of the most impactful ways we fulfill this mission is by helping members and their families pursue higher education, opening doors to a brighter future. That’s why we are proud to offer the Local 528 Scholarship Fund! Established in 2020, this fund provides multiple scholarship opportunities annually for our members and their dependents. In October 2024, we launched an annual scholarship in memory of Mark Maher, a special-purpose award in his honor. Additional scholarships are offered throughout the year to support educational aspirations. These opportunities are made possible by generous donations to the fund and a $0.01/hr contribution from members. Stay tuned for annual scholarship notices to take advantage of this benefit that invests in our Local Union and its families.
Mark Maher Annual Scholarship: Mark Clayton Maher, this scholarship’s namesake, was a man of unwavering dedication to education, community and our Union. His belief in the transformative power of education is the driving force behind the inception of this scholarship. This award is given to a deserving student who exhibits outstanding academic achievement, leadership potential and a commitment to making a positive impact on their community. This scholarship continues the legacy of Mark’s dedication to this Union. In his honor, we proudly extend his commitment to future generations with this annual scholarship.
